Pender Harbour Paddling Society Presents …
Welcome to the home of the Pender Harbour Paddlers, located in Pender Harbour on B.C.’s beautiful Sunshine Coast. We are a brand new organization, started in September of 2007, the brainchild of a former Lower Mainland Dragon Boater.
The Pender Harbour Paddlers are a non-profit society which promotes paddling as a physically active way to foster spirit within the community through the organization of festivals and events, recruitment and training of new members and the building of team spirit. We are open to men and women of all ages and fitness levels. We also have a youth program for boys and girls ages 10 and up in the works.
Currently Pender Harbour Paddlers has over 50 members of all ages and our membership drive will be starting soon for the 2009 season. We hope to have enough of a membership to have both a recreational team and at least two competitive teams. If you are interested in joining or coming out to a practice, please go to our Contacts page.
Fundraising is a huge part of our club. We rely heavily on our members to volunteer in some way. In the past year, through our Meat Draws and generous donations, we have managed to purchase a brand new, Chinese Red D2 Dragon boat which we took delivery of in April. Support for us in the community has been overwhelming, particularly from the Rotary Club of Pender Harbour and Ron and Marita of the Garden Bay Pub and Hotel.
We are based in beautiful Garden Bay, a wonderfully protected waterway the majority of the year. All of Pender Harbour offers so many different little nooks and crannies to practice in and we always have different scenery to watch. It is also the perfect place for a late season Festival! See you here in 2009 for the first annual Pender Harbour Dragon Boating Festival - the Sunshine Coast Final Fling!
