Thanks to all of you who were able to make the team meeting last night and to those who weren’t able to, we missed you.

Here are some important dates to mark on your calendars:

Thursday February 4: Olympic Torch Relay.  There will be a free community Lions Logger Breakfast from 8-11am.  The torch runs through Madeira at 9:19.  We would like all paddlers to meet by 8:30am by community hall, wearing team Tshirts and with your paddles.  Deb and Derek will also bring the Dragon Head to be a part of the action!  After the relay event, the dragon head will be put at the Credit Union to help us promote/advertise our open house.

Open House: Sunday February 21, 2pm at the PH Music School.  Rick will speak about the sport, Beth will also try to fit it into her schedule to be there to speak.  As many team members as possible to come, boost the excitement and such!  Talk at the meeting last night sounded like several of the team will be bringing new members.

AGM: Tuesday March 9, 7pm. Garden Bay Pub, restaurant side.
Positions on the Executive will need to be filled.  Becky Udy has put her name forward to be Secretary (she won’t be able to make the meeting), and the position of Chair/president will be open.  I will not be able to fulfill the 2 year spot and will step down this year.

Fundraising committee of Deb W, Darlene and Louise M will need all our help with a couple of planned events:

Garage Sale: Saturday April 24 (during april tools event).  Save all your good stuff!
Car Rally: Friday May 21 (to be part of May Day weekend)

More details on both events to follow at a later date.

We have decided to attend 2 regattas this year.  At this point, we are going to go to Nanaimo on July 9,10 and 11.  The second choice has not yet been determined but could be Victoria on August 14,15 16 or Kelowna in September 17,18, 19.

We didn’t pick a date to start paddling but most likely in March after the AGM.  I would think we would start with our Sunday paddles then add a second evening paddle as the daylight allows, but this is all up for discussion.

Deb W is working away on Tshirt design and we all seem pretty darn excited about getting team shirts!  We will look fantastic!

Reminder: Registration forms need to be filled out and dues paid, contact Heather Taylor.

Oh, and if anyone is interested in the Dragon Boating Conference it will be held on April 9-11 at the Granville Island Hotel.  Check out Water’s Edge website if you would like more information.

See everyone at the Torch Relay!

Kelowna regatta.

Dragontinis went to Kelowna and did extremely well for a first time regatta.  There were some members from other teams and we all had a great time.  John did the steering and Kerri was the inspiration for us all to paddle harder, deeper and slower.  With a final time of 2:27.30 the team has shown it can paddle with the best of them.
